Recent Media Coverage of Wildflower Legislation
At the urging of the Michigan Botanical Club and other, the state legislature
passed the Michigan wildflower protection act, Public Act 115, Laws of
1943, to regulate the cutting, removal, transportation, and sale of specified native
plants vulnerable to exploitation.

Dwarf lake Iris, Iris lacustris
The Michigan Legislature passed Public Act 454, Laws of 1998, to declare the
dwarf lake iris, Iris lacustris,
as Michigan's official state wildflower, as
proposal by the Michigan Botanical Club.
