Phyllis Higman will discuss some of her 8 years of botanical
experiences while working for the MNFI ( Michigan Natural Features
Inventory) . The title of her presentation will be " Rare Botanical
Encounters in Southwest Michigan". Ken met Phyllis while
leading one of the Kellogg Foray field trips this Spring. He was impressed
by her technical expertise, and her practical attitude toward saving
our Botanical treasures. She received her formal Botanical training at
Central Michigan University & the University of Michigan.
Monday, November 19, 2001. Alexander Enyedi will discuss "Plant-Viral Interactions:
current research and implications of transgenic plants to the
problem". Alex has indicated that he will also cover the
general, fascinating, area of plant-microbe interactions. Alex has
been a member of the faculty at Western Michigan University for 8 years.
He received his formal training at the University of Ontario at Guelph ( BS, MS ) and a Ph.D at
Penn State in plant pathogen disease resistance.

Emma recently published a new collection of her essays, RAMBLINGS; and one
of her previous books is UP AND DOWN THE DUNES.
