To the Fall Meeting
At Kalamazoo Nature Center
Sunday, October 7, 2007
All members and friends of the Michigan Botanical Club from
around our state are invited to attend our Fall Meeting to be held on Sunday
October 7, 2007 at the Kalamazoo Nature
Center, 7000 North Westnedge Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
(269-381-1574). Events of the day will include a State Board meeting at
2:00 pm, and a program open to the general public at 3:15 pm. We encourage carpooling, so bring a
group to the Fall Meeting. Everyone is welcome! For a map and

State Board Meeting - 2:00 to 3:00 pm.
Program - 3:15 to 4:15 PM
The speaker at our Fall MBC meeting on October 7 has
changed. In place of the scheduled talk on fungi, the following will be given:
"History of and Myths that Surround the Life of Charles
Darwin." By: Dennis W. Woodland, President, Southwestern Chapter, MBC
Charles Darwin was a little rich boy who grew up in
the shadow of a physician father and famous grandfathers. The talk will
trace Charles Darwin's life growing up, his education, travels on the Beagle
with scenes from Australia, New Zealand, the Galapagos Islands and its
unique biology, his home at Down House and the village of Downe, the Linnean
Society of London where Darwin's and Wallace's papers were read, his funeral
at Westminster Abby, and finely a discussion of some myths that have
surrounded his death.
